The kitchen’s ability to delight and surprise ZZ’s guests is paramount to the member experience, and from this tenet came the idea of developing housemade versions of classic Japanese desserts and snacks.
The name “Lucky Snaps” comes first from the idea of the word “pocky” itself – based on the onomatepoeia pokkiri (ポッキリ) that resembles the sound of the biscuit sticks being snapped.
The “lucky” comes from the urge to feature a mascot, a popular and widespread practice in Japan, along with the idea of spreading good fortune by sharing. This train of thought led me to the eponymous “lucky cat”, a symbol that has been popular in Japan for centuries and is belives to bring good fortune to the owner.
